Villafranca Del Bierzo to O Cebreiro

Our most challenging climbing of the tour occured today as we crossed the Galicia Mountains.  We stopped just over the pass in the tiny hamlet of O Cebreiro. You may remember seeing the thatch roofed stone houses here in Martin Sheen’s movie “The Way.”

As we climbed, the scenery changed to lush countryside.  It was absolutely beautiful!  25 miles.

  1. What a quaint little town, like going back in time. It seems to peaceful. Do people actually live there or is this a tourist thing?

    • People live there. The pilgrims doing the Camino trail pass through this town on the way to Santiago so it’s a popular place to spend the night. There are little inns and hostals, and quaint cafes scattered throughout the village.

    • Yes the furry friend wanted his pic taken. He wasn’t so popular in the middle of the night though. His barking woke me up several times.

    • No. The ground just comes up and hits her every now and then. But through it all she keeps on moving forward!
